Scientists have found some Lunar Pits , consisting comfortable temperatures , one day which will act as Shelter for Humans on the Moon .

Scientists have identified locations with Thermal Stability on the Moon

When humans again started to research about the Moon and around its Orbit and trying to go there in this Decade one of the biggest prerequisites will be to ensure conditions that aid the survival of the Humans on the airless, rough world . Scientists have now identified some locations with Thermal Stability in Lunar Pits, which could be Shelter for the Humans .

These pits have Temperature Conditions around 17°C

These Pits have Temperature conditions around 17°C and make Thermally Stable sites for Exploration . If we compare these pits with the Lunar Surface, there is a huge difference of Temperature . On the rocky Lunar Surface we can experience upto 127°C at the day time . It may feels like –173°C during the night .

Scientists have used the data from Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter ( LRO ) to study these pits

Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter ( LRO ) found these pits for the first time in 2009 . Scientists are using those data of LRO to find out a suitable place for Humans to boost Lunar Research . These pits could be a way of the Lunar Caves . In future those caves could as a base for major research . And it could even be used as shelters for Future Astronauts .

Research on the Lunar Pits

The research study published in the Geophysical Research Letters states that — Lunar Collapse Pits may provide the acess to subsurface Lava-Tubes of unknown extent . “ Lunar Caves would provide a temperature, stable, and safe thermal enviornment for long-term exploration and habitation of the Moon ” , researchers stated in the Journal .

“Lunar pits are a fascinating feature on the lunar surface. Knowing that they create a stable thermal environment helps us paint a picture of these unique lunar features and the prospect of one day exploring them ”, Noah Petro, LRO Project Scientist said in a statement .

According to the research These Pits are created by the celling of a Lava-Tube collapsing . Scientists has now been able to characterise the environment of one the prominent pits located in Mare Tranquillitatis .

The team focused on the 100 meter deep Pit, about the length and width of a Football Field and used Computer Modelling to analyse the Thermal properties of the Rock and Lunar Dust and to chart the pit's temperature over time . They prattle that If a cave extends from the bottom of the pit, as images taken by LRO's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter ( LRO ) Camera suggest, it too would have this relativity comfortable temperature.

Researchers stated that just as our ancient Ancestors lived in caves before evolving into Modern-Day Humans Civilization, when our species return to the Moon, there they would find a similar situation .

These caves will act as a saviour for the Humans on the Moon . 1 moon day is equal to 15 Earth days . So the Lunar Surface is constantly bombarded by sunlight followed by brutally cold nights , that too last about 15 Earth days .
